Web Accessibility: assigning language in a Web page
Duration = 4:00 min
Level = beginner/ expert
Disability concerned = visual
Description
It is essential to define the
language of a document. This allows some assistive technologies, including
voice synthesis, to adapt more easily to content.
In this example, John explains the inconvenience caused when changes in
language are not indicated. Here, the mispronunciation of the sentence is only
unpleasant to hear, but in many cases, poor coding can make a Web page incomprehensible.
